About Us

The Southeast Missouri Children’s Museum is a non-profit Missouri Corporation formed in 2006 which has tax exempt status under Section 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code. The organization was formed by a group of interested citizens to address the need for a hands-on learning center for children in the Southeast Missouri region. The Board of Directors includes: Martha Brown, a city planner; Kevin Priester, Water Systems Manager; Sharon Anderson, a Youth Services Director; Jackie Wortmann, a Coordinator, NASA Educator Resource Center; Debbie Simmons, a regional retail manager; Bill Shivelbine, a business owner; Christina Mershon, an Assistant Director, Extended and Continuing Education; and Jennifer Kornblum, an attorney. The goal of the Southeast Missouri Children’s Museum is to provide a full-time permanent hands-on learning center for families that is self-sustaining through self-generated income, individual memberships, corporate sponsorships and grant funding.
