PROTECTING AGAINST THE CORONAVIRUS
At Discovery Playhouse, we put our patrons first, ensuring your comfort and safety throughout your visit so you can focus on learning and having fun! With recent news revolving around the Coronavirus, we are taking special precautions and ramping up our already robust cleaning and sanitation procedures. We’re increasing the frequency in which we clean and sanitize our exhibits, movable props and toys throughout the day.
We’re closely adhering to the recommendations and guidelines set forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services. Check out our COVID-19: Frequently Asked Questions below to learn more about how Discovery Playhouse is working to prevent the contraction and spread of the virus, and things you can do to protect yourself and members of your family.
Ways to Keep Yourself and Your Family Health From the Coronavirus:
· Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
· Avoid touching eyes, mouth, or nose with unwashed hands.
· Avoid close contact with people who are sick. The World Health Organization suggests maintaining at least 3 feet of space between yourself and an ill person, or someone who is coughing and sneezing.
· Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or the crook of your arm when sneezing or coughing (also known as the vampire cough). Dispose of tissue after use.
· Stay home and away from others if you or your family members are feeling ill.
Has any of your staff shown signs of being sick?
Discovery Playhouse has had zero reports of staff members who could have been exposed to the Coronavirus. We have sent a memo to all staff reminding them to stay home if they feel ill in any way and reminding them they will not be penalized for doing so.
What if a visitor to the Museum has been sick? Have any recent visitors been exposed to Coronavirus?
Discovery Playhouse has not been notified by the CDC or any other public health organization that an exposed person has visited Discovery Playhouse. As with any public space, we cannot know the medical history of every visitor, but Discovery Playhouse is taking every precaution to strengthen our cleaning procedures and reduce the risk of spreading germs.
Should I still visit Discovery Playhouse? What are the risks to my child?
Yes! Come visit and play if you and your family are feeling well! We ask that if you are coughing, sneezing or just feeling bad to please visit us another day. There is no additional risk for your family when visiting Discovery Playhouse versus any other public space. For more information on protecting you and your family check out www.cdc.gov or www.health.mo.gov.
What Precautions are Discovery Playhouse taking to Prevent the Spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19)?
The cleaning procedures in place at Discovery Playhouse follow strict internal guidelines as well as the safety guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and The Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services. All movable toys and props are disinfected and wiped down daily. With concern over the virus we have increased the amount of times these items are disinfected throughout the day. We have identified high touch areas and clean them frequently throughout the day.
Our staff sanitizes our exhibits and touchable surfaces throughout. The restrooms are checked and cleaned on a regular basis.
Discovery Playhouse has hand sanitizers located throughout the museum, however we still encourage staff and patrons to wash their hands with soap and water whenever possible.
